Coin of Gaul, Morini

Gold , 11mm, 1.41gm, issued 60-30 BC

Obv: Stylised figures within boat.

Rev: Central bar bisected by rooted tree; bent line below, crescent and three-pronged ornament in exergue.

Scarce. Obverse off centre and almost blank.

Quarter stater. The Morini were a coastal Belgic tribe settled around modern Calais. Much of their "imported coinage" has been found in neighbouring Britain.
