Vespasian was appointed emperor by his army whilst campainging in the Jewish war during 69, the Year of the Four Emperors. Victorious against the then emperor Vitellius, Vespasian quickly mastered the situation at Rome and ended the civil war. He appointed his elder son Titus as his successor and his younger son Domitian undertook a junior role.Vespasian reigned ten years and died in 79 AD..
