Gordian I

(Marcus Antonius Gordianus)

Augustus (238AD-238AD)

Supposedly a distant relation of Trajan, but more probably hailing from Cappadocia, Gordian revolted against Maximinus whilst governor of Africa. Although supported by the senate he was replaced by forces loyal to Maximinus.
